Old Village Shop, Ambleside, central, cosy retreat

A beautiful property but room for improvement! Positive: The easy accessibility to town. The beautiful firnishings and kitchen. The bed was delightfully comfortable. Negative: On arrival, it was impossible to unpack because there was so much traffic past the front door on North Street.(far busier than we could ever imagine!) Consequently, we had to park at the nearby car park and carry all of our possessions to the property at the beginning and end of our stay. We were told that it would be ok to stop outside the property for a short whilst but this was, and still is, not possible.The bath was dirty on arrival (hairs from the previous guests still remained in the bath !) The first night's heating did not work because someone had messed with the heating control. The road noise kept us awake all night.(cars, lorries,motorbikes rushing inches away from our bedroom window, which was situated at the front of the property) The recycling bin lorry was extremely loud outside our window one morning and woke us up. Lastly, there were numerous (far too many!) night lights throughout the whole property, which flashed or shone brightly at night. The welcome basket was filled with extremely unhealthy food(chocolate cake, massive bar of cadburys, crisps, chocolate biscuits (a cholesterol nightmare!)).

Positive: Brilliant stay thankyou for hamper and wine ever thing was spotless

A perfect stay in a gorgeous area - thoughtful hosts and lovely, self sufficient property. Positive: Fantastic property in perfect location. Clean, cosy and exactly what we needed. Private and perfectly self sufficient! Very kind and generous food and drink package including prosecco from the hosts! Negative: Only suggestion would be a coffee machine - many lovely coffee shops nearby, but would have been perfect to have option to make a quick easy coffee at home too. Only mention as the property was so high standards!
