The Hideaway at Yew Trees, Ullswater

Spacious property tucked away amongst the trees - I already looked at rebooking. Positive: VERY clean. Beds super comfy. Huge windows. Private balcony (not overlooked). Extensive information pack (although a number of the eating out links were ‘void’). Negative: The lake was there… just about… trees were good for privacy but impacted the potential view. We seemed to have a lot of flies inside, right from our arrival.

Perfect for travelers who want a weekend home experience in a more unexplored area of Lake District Positive: The house is thoughtfully decorated, with comfortable furniture and modern details throughout. The view from the kitchen and living room is gorgeous--overlooking their garden and with peeks of the lake and mountains behind. Ullswater is remote--there are no supermarkets or corner shops so come ready with all your food and essential cooking ingredients before checking in. We stayed here after a longer stay in Grasmere, which is more quaint but touristy. In Ullswater, the hiking trails and roads were much quieter. Negative: We had some issues upon checking in, but the host responded quickly. One of the showers was unusable due to a plumbing issue and the previous guests had left behind some things.
